the 1820s
The Connection
With the expansion of what is now Main Road 3 from Chur to Castasegna, the region became accessible by road—the first inns began to appear, and tourism took off.
Mid-19th century
Churwalden Becomes a Climate Resort
In 1903, Switzerland's first official ski course began in Lenzerheide.
1962
A New Chapter
Opening of Switzerland's steepest T-bar lift to Alp Stätz—the beginning of the winter sports era in Churwalden.
1965
Setting the Course
Conversion to a chairlift and founding of Stätzerhorn Ski- und Sessellift AG – expansion of the ski area.
1968
Pradaschier – Churwalden
With the new route to Pargitsch, the current Pradaschier–Churwalden sector will become part of the ski arena.
1999
Turning point
Pradaschier AG was founded by a local consortium—to save and continue operating the facilities.
2000
Expansion of the toboggan run
Construction of what was then the world's longest luge track—3,060 meters, 31 turns—a new crowd-pleaser is taking shape.
2013–2014
Arosa-Lenzerheide Merger
Churwalden will become the main gateway to the new ski resort.
2014
Acquisition by Investor Luzi Bergamin
New initiatives, targeted investments, and expansion of summer offerings.
2015
Gateway to the Mountain
Opening of the Portal Restaurant and the Heidbüelbahn—the entrance area becomes a new gathering place.
2021
Expansion of the Zipline
The first zipline in the canton of Graubünden is set to open—Pradaschier remains a pioneer in alpine adventures.
